A woman’s attempt to have a productive workday didn’t go to plan when her rescue dog decided it was cuddle time and he needed the workspace to sleep instead.
Dog owner Grace Hewitt shared an adorable video on TikTok (@gracelynnhewitt99) showing the moment she sat at her desk to go through emails and tick a bunch of tasks off her to do list. Or at least, that was the plan anyway, until her rescue dog Kage stepped in.
The large pit bull and American bull dog mix decided that his owner’s work wasn’t nearly as important as his cuddles, and he made his feelings clear. The sweet pup climbed up onto her lap and immediately took over most of the space on the seat.
Hewitt certainly didn’t mind Kage’s interruption, telling Newsweek that he’s “so loyal and loving,” and his presence is all she could ask for. Nonetheless, it’s hard to be productive when Kage is around because he just wants to cuddle and be near his dog mom at all times.
After Kage climbed up onto Hewitt’s chair, she tried to work around him and struggled to find enough space. Ultimately, she gave in and took her work station onto the floor instead, allowing Kage all the room and comfort he could want.
“These breeds often get a bad reputation but they are also known to be some of the most loyal and snuggly dog breeds out there,” Hewitt said. “He’s amazing with any and all humans and dogs, and has truly turned into my shadow, which is what his name stands for in Japanese.”
Hewitt shared the adorable clip of Kage stealing her seat on TikTok, and it’s melted plenty of hearts online. In just a matter of days, the clip has gone viral with over 91,200 views and more than 21,400 likes at the time of writing.
The caption alongside the clip jokes, “no I mean this is totally normal.”
Kage was rescued from a kill shelter, as Hewitt explained that he was only “days away” from being euthanized. Thankfully, his life was spared and now he’s learned what it means to be safe and loved.
It isn’t just Kage who has been completely transformed since his adoption either, as Hewitt said having him around has “truly changed [her] life.” She regularly shares videos of her pup on social media to show just how gentle and trusting larger dogs can be, and to highlight the importance of adopting a rescue.
Internet users can’t get enough of Kage’s antics, leading to more than 280 comments on the viral TikTok post already.
One comment reads: “If I fits I sits.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “Mama you knew better than to get that tiny seat.”
Another person joked: “when your co-worker wants to share your cubicle.”
While one commenter replied: “The best way to answer emails in my opinion.”
